Resiliency

Research says...

Resilient individuals can block out the negativity of their surroundings/environment.Instead,they see opportunities in obstacles;they believe stumbling blocks are stepping stones;they recognize that frustration can be a force to teach new skills;that problems are places to try more creative strategies.

Resiliency is the pattern that lets us "bounce back" and try again. It comes from an abiding belief in the value of solving problems and meeting goals.

Our job as a parent is to improve their Resilience approach and not just to spoon feed them with solutions, so as to turn them into an independent, responsible and confident adult. This can be very well done with various games, stories, role plays etc.

1. "SAME TIME" word game - This game will tell kids that they cannot work on many problems to solve simultaneously. The game will enable them to prioritize their problems and solve them one by one.

3. Don't laugh at my problems - The aim of this game is to keep a smile off your face when someone is trying to make you laugh.

Story time

1. Vicky and his friends - A young boy Vicky who often fights with his friends. What he did to make his relations with his friends better? This story will model constructive thinking in child.

There is something we are all capable of but usually don't cultivate intentionally. Why not start young in training those capacities?

Tuning in

An important aspect of mindfulness is the ability to tune into our intuition, our inner wisdom. An intuition often shows up as a "gut feeling" about something that you find out later was completely accurate.
